WELA Returns to CADAM: A Celebration of Progress and New Beginnings

On Tuesday, 22nd July 2025, the Women Empowerment and Legal Aid (WELA) team paid a return visit to the Christ Against Drug Abuse Ministry (CADAM) Rehabilitation Centre in Epe, Lagos—this time with hearts full and hands even fuller. We came bearing donations of food and clothing items, but once again, we left with more than we brought: stories of progress, joy, and transformation.

Leading the WELA delegation was our indefatigable Founder and Chairperson, Funmi Falana, SAN. She was joined by Program Director, Sola Agbaje, Felix Peter, Principal of WELA College of Vocational Training, and Tayo Omole, the College Administrator. The CADAM team and their guests welcomed us like old friends—especially those who had met us during our previous visit in February. There’s nothing quite like the warmth of familiar faces who are genuinely excited to see you again.

We were fortunate to witness one of CADAM’s cherished traditions: their games session, held in honour of beneficiaries preparing to graduate. The energy was high, the laughter infectious, and the competition friendly. Bowling and football were on the agenda—and let’s just say, the enthusiasm was so contagious that for a moment, we all fancied ourselves as athletes rather than advocates of empowerment.

Mrs. Falana SAN took time to address all the beneficiaries, offering words of encouragement and inspiration—particularly to those on the cusp of a new chapter as they prepare to reintegrate into society. Her message was clear: your past does not define you; your courage to choose a better future does.

The visit was yet another reminder that healing is possible, and that the right support—whether from institutions like CADAM or partners like WELA—can change the trajectory of a life. We remain proud supporters of the work CADAM is doing, and we look forward to continuing this partnership built on compassion, dignity, and hope.

To the CADAM team and their incredible guests: thank you for letting us share in your journey.
