To empower women, children, and the disadvantaged in Nigeria through the promotion and protection of their rights by providing legal assistance, lobbying, advocacy, vocational training, and grants to end gender discrimination, promote equal opportunities, and uplift the marginalized.

Our Goals
Protect Women's human rights
We promote and protect women's human rights through lobbying, advocacy, provision of legal aid, training, among other strategies.
Stop Women Abuse
Stop all forms of abuse including emotional, psychological, sexual, financial abuse, and domestic violence against women and girls.
Bridge the gender gap
End discrimination against women & girls in Nigeria, close the existing gender gap and dismantle gender barriers in the Nigerian society.
Our Team
A team of dedicated & visionary feminists
In 2009, Barr. Mrs. Funmi Falana founded WELA, and under her visionary leadership, we have grown into an organization attracting various professionals who are passionate about making a continuous positive impact in the lives of women and children across Nigeria.
Our diverse team boasts skills and experiences from the public and private sectors, including lawyers, paralegals, engineers, doctors, counsellors, instructors, and project managers. We also work with numerous volunteers who render professional services to support our cause.
