In February 2023, WELA organised a captivating 3-month workshop focused on the traditional Nigerian art of adire making. Led by our founder and chairperson, Mrs. Funmi Falana, SAN, this workshop offered participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria, while acquiring a valuable vocational skill that blends creativity with tradition.
Throughout the workshop, participants were introduced to various adire techniques, ranging from intricate tie-dye patterns to symbolic motifs that carry deep cultural significance. The hands-on sessions allowed attendees to explore the creative possibilities of adire, learning how to transform plain fabrics into vibrant works of art that tell stories and preserve cultural identity.
